Born in the Navajo Nation, Chacon is a chamber music composer, a performer of experimental noise music, and an installation artist. He performs as solo artist with various ensembles and is a member of the Indigenous art collective Postcommodity.
Along with his experimental works, which often incorporate native instruments, Chacon is an educator, serving as composer-in-residence with the Native American Composer Apprentice Project (NACAP), teaching string quartet composition to American Indian high school students. He has served on the Music and Native American Studies faculties at the University of New Mexico and as a visiting artist in the New Media Art & Performance program at Long Island University.
