A member of the Stockbridge Munsee Community, a Native American tribe, Davids is a composer and flautist from Madison, Wisconsin. He has composed music for the National Symphony Orchestra, Kronos Quartet, and the vocal group Chanticleer. In 2015, his opera “Purchase of Manhattan” debuted. He’s also written music for films and for flute and flute quartets. To encourage more Native American composers, he started Native American Composer Apprentice Program in Arizona and the Composer Apprentice National Outreach Endeavor in Minnesota. He also opened a recording studio on the studio on the Stockbridge-Munsee Reservation in Wisconsin.
