Alberto Ginastera

Buenos Aires-born Alberto Ginastera studied at the Williams Conservatory in his hometown as well as with Aaron Copland during a visit to America. He was also a professor who taught Astor Piazzolla among others. Using traditional Argentinian music as a primary element in many of his compositions. Many of his works are inspired by the tradition of the Gaucho, the landless native horseman that serves as a symbol of Argentina.
